This year's PIM Conference is in Tahiti -- Papeete, to be more accurate -- at the Université de la Polynésie Française.
I took six years of French between high school and college and know some passable Tahitian (I had a doubles partner who came from Tahiti Nui; nice guy, lousy backswing).
Ironic that the Professions In Medicine chairmen would select Tahiti as a venue. Especially after "white man's medicine" did so much for the local people in 1789. I don't suppose they'll be offering a tour of historic "We-Got-Typhus-and-Smallpox-From-The-Europeans-ville".
Of course, I hear the beaches are phenomenal.
